PCB Drilling Consumables for Singapore PCB & Semiconductor Manufacturing

1100 H18 aluminum entry boards, IC substrate backup boards and back-drill aluminum for Singapore semiconductor, advanced packaging and high-mix EMS lines

YUESHAN supplies PCB drilling consumables to Singapore's semiconductor, advanced packaging and high-mix EMS lines: 1100 H18 aluminum entry boards in 0.15–0.28 mm selected by drill diameter, lubricant-coated entry aluminum for sub-Ø0.15 mm microvia, and backup boards from HDF 880 (75±2 HD) to Phenolic PHE (90±5 HD, decomposition above 220 °C). A Singapore-registered trading partner has bought 1100 H18 × 0.18 mm entry aluminum from YUESHAN continuously since 2017 for a Philippine OSAT end user. Sheets 940 × 1245 mm and 520 × 620 mm, MOQ 100–200 sheets, free samples with TDS/MSDS, FOB/CIF.

Singapore is not a volume PCB fabrication base — it is a specification, procurement and advanced-packaging centre. That changes what a drilling consumable has to prove. Buyers here are usually qualifying material on behalf of a regional network: a Singapore trading house serving OSAT plants elsewhere in ASEAN, a semiconductor site running substrate and interposer work, or an EMS line doing high-mix, low-volume builds where one scrapped panel costs more than a pallet of backup board. The questions we get from Singapore are about alloy consistency, documentation and repeatability — not headline price.

Local market snapshot: Singapore's semiconductor and packaging base

Singapore accounts for roughly 10% of global semiconductor output and about 20% of global semiconductor equipment production, according to the Singapore Economic Development Board. The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association counts more than 30 IC design centres, close to 20 wafer fabs and over 10 assembly and test operations on the island. Advanced packaging is the current growth axis: Micron broke ground in Woodlands on 8 January 2025 for its first HBM advanced packaging facility in Singapore, a US$7 billion commitment with operations due to start in 2026 and capacity expansion from 2027. In December 2024 a VIS–NXP joint-venture 300 mm wafer fab broke ground with a stated US$7.8 billion investment targeting production in 2027.

Proven Singapore supply experience

Verifiable YUESHAN facts — Singapore channel, 2017 to present

  • A Singapore-registered trading partner has purchased aluminum entry board from YUESHAN continuously since 2017 — more than eight years of repeat supply.
  • The qualified spec has not drifted: alloy and temper 1100 H18, thickness 0.18 mm.
  • The end user is a semiconductor OSAT (outsourced assembly and test) plant in the Philippines — the Singapore partner buys, YUESHAN produces, the OSAT drills.
  • Every lot ships after pre-shipment self-inspection. Multiple 2025 shipments closed with no quality claim.
  • Aluminum is quoted on a formula basis — SMM spot aluminum plus a processing surcharge — not a fixed price. A 2026 purchase order triggered a formula adjustment of roughly 9%, disclosed before order confirmation.

The full account, including how the formula pricing was communicated and accepted, is published as the Singapore trading partner case study. Material data sits in the 1100 H18 aluminum entry board spec sheet. For the pricing mechanism itself, see how aluminum formula pricing works.

That record matters more than a specification claim. It shows an eight-year qualified spec, a documented inspection routine, and a transparent pricing formula that survived an aluminum price move — the three things a Singapore procurement team actually audits.

Who buys drilling consumables through Singapore

Trading houses and regional distributors

Singapore-registered traders consolidate for OSAT and PCB plants across Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. They need a locked spec, batch traceability and a pricing formula they can pass through without renegotiating every month. Our 1100 H18 spec sheet exists precisely so a trader can hand it to an end user unchanged.

Semiconductor and advanced packaging sites

Substrate, interposer and package-level drilling demands the hardest, flattest support available: Phenolic PHE at 90±5 HD, 1.50 mm, with a decomposition temperature above 220 °C — paired with lubricant-coated entry aluminum for sub-Ø0.15 mm microvia. See HDI & IC substrate solutions.

High-mix, low-volume EMS and NPI lines

Short runs and frequent stack changes punish inconsistent material. UV Melamine 950 at 83±3 HD gives a repeatable exit surface across changeovers without re-tuning parameters every job.

Medical, aerospace and high-reliability builds

Where a hole defect is a field failure, not a rework ticket. Tight exit burr control plus back-drill aluminum for stub control. See medical & diagnostic and defense & aerospace.

Procurement, documentation and logistics

  1. Send the spec — alloy and thickness for entry, layer count and smallest hole for backup, plus panel size and monthly volume.
  2. Grade proposal — we return an entry + backup configuration with the technical reason, not just a price line.
  3. Free samples — 3–5 days with TDS/MSDS so your line, or your end user's line, runs the trial.
  4. Production order — typically 2–3 weeks, FOB or CIF. Aluminum is priced on formula (SMM spot plus processing surcharge), disclosed before confirmation.
  5. Ongoing supply — locked spec, pre-shipment self-inspection on every lot, batch documentation for pass-through.

Singapore buyer FAQ

Has YUESHAN actually supplied Singapore before, or is this a target market?

Actually supplied. A Singapore-registered trading partner has purchased 1100 H18 aluminum entry board at 0.18 mm thickness from YUESHAN continuously since 2017 — over eight years — with the material going to a semiconductor OSAT plant in the Philippines. Multiple 2025 shipments closed with no quality claim.

Why is Singapore a consumables market if it is not a large PCB fabrication base?

Two reasons. Singapore hosts close to 20 wafer fabs, 30+ IC design centres and 10+ assembly and test operations, plus new advanced packaging capacity such as Micron's US$7 billion HBM packaging facility in Woodlands, so there is real on-island drilling demand. Separately, Singapore trading houses buy and consolidate for OSAT and PCB plants across ASEAN.

Which backup board grade suits IC substrate and interposer drilling?

Phenolic PHE — 90±5 HD hardness, 1.50 mm thickness, decomposition temperature above 220 °C. It is the hardest grade in the range and holds its face under substrate drilling heat. Pair it with 1100 H18 entry at 0.15–0.20 mm.

How do I choose aluminum entry board thickness?

By drill diameter. Ø0.20–0.25 mm holes use 0.15–0.20 mm entry; Ø0.30–0.35 mm use 0.18–0.25 mm; Ø0.40–0.45 mm use 0.20–0.28 mm. Standard alloy and temper is 1100 H18.

When should I move from plain to lubricant-coated entry aluminum?

Plain 1100 H18 is adequate for holes of Ø0.15 mm and above on multilayer and PTH work. Below Ø0.15 mm — HDI microvia, BGA, IC substrate — use lubricant-coated (LCO) entry, because the coating cools and lubricates the bit rather than letting it run dry.

Is aluminum quoted at a fixed price?

No. Aluminum entry board is quoted on a formula basis: SMM spot aluminum plus a processing surcharge, disclosed before order confirmation. A 2026 purchase order from our Singapore partner triggered a formula adjustment of roughly 9%, communicated in advance.

What documentation ships with each lot?

TDS and MSDS/SDS with every shipment, and COA by batch on request. Every lot goes through pre-shipment self-inspection. Trading houses reselling to an end user typically need that documentation to pass through unchanged, which is supported.

What are the standard sheet sizes and MOQ?

Two standard sizes: 940 × 1245 mm (300 sheets per pallet, MOQ 100 sheets) and 520 × 620 mm (800 sheets per pallet, MOQ 200 sheets). Cut-to-panel-size is available on request.

What is the lead time to Singapore?

Free samples ship in 3–5 days with TDS/MSDS. Production orders are typically 2–3 weeks on FOB or CIF terms.

Do you supply back-drill aluminum for stub control?

Yes. Back-drill aluminum is supplied for controlled-depth drilling and stub control on high layer count and high-reliability boards, usually alongside UV Melamine 980 backup. See the back-drilling principle guide for the mechanism.

How do I request a quote?

Contact Mr. Lucky Xu via WhatsApp (+86 13433290964) or email henan_xu@hotmail.com with alloy and thickness for entry material, or layer count and smallest hole diameter for backup, plus panel size and monthly volume.
